Maybe adding a library search to extconf.rb?
find_library('pthread', some_phtread_symbol, lib_paths)
find_library('rt', some_rt_symbol, lib_paths)
Where some_*_symbol is a symbol in the library and lib_paths is an
array with library paths.
Maybe some code for checking if the build is on mips* arch also?
