Package: mysql-server-5.5 Version: 5.5.35+dfsg-0+wheezy1 Severity: important Tags: d-i
Dear Maintainer, Upgrading from mysql-server-5.5.33+dfsg-0+wheezy1 to mysql-server_5.5.35+dfsg-0+wheezy1 cause replication to fail with the following error: Last_Errno: 1580 Last_Error: Error 'You cannot 'ALTER' a log table if logging is enabled' on query. Default database: 'mysql'. Query: MODIFY start_time TIMESTAMP NOT NULL,... Percona[1] and MariaDB[2] have the same issue open and have identified that the issue is caused by the lack of of the --skip-write-binlog arg to the mysql_upgrade command[3]. As stated in the linked bug reports, the workaround is to issue the following commands in MySQL: SET GLOBAL SQL_SLAVE_SKIP_COUNTER=1; START SLAVE; Having to issue this workaround is not desirable in a production environment when applying minor-point upgrades. The upgrade scripting should be handling this for us.
