Now this is interesting... I tried vanilla 3.13.0 with exact Debian's config, and it fails without the patch (and works with it). So what else differs from kernels that you say work for you unpatched? * Debian patches vs vanilla Linus' tree * build scheme (external kbuild vs make-kpkg) My exact invocation was: make-kpkg --rootcmd fakeroot --initrd linux-image linux-headers in a pristine Linus' 3.13.0 tree from git, with config copied from the package from experimental.
