Source: recover
Version: 1.3c-11
Severity: normal

The code for the "recover" package seems to come from the pre-devfs days as
seen on #98588. Now we are using udev. Upstream sf.net page doesn't even have
accessible tarball nor meaningful contents. So this high risk functionality
package (possible data corruption) has completely dead and unmaintained
upstream. (The last upload to Debian was [2006-09-24])

 http://recover.sourceforge.net/
 http://sourceforge.net/projects/recover/files/ (nothing)

FYI: This bug report was prompted by the recent removal of similar e2undel
     http://bugs.debian.org/731316
Most of the discussion there seems to apply here.

The core functionality is available in debugfs (from the "e2fsprogs" package)
anyway via "list_deleted_inodes" and "undel" and debugfs is very well
maintained.

If you agree that the recover should be removed, please reassign
this bug as a removal request to ftp.debian.org.

FYI: I am removing entry in Debian Reference for this package and adding note
on debugfs.
