This is issues #5 and #39 on http://github.com/wanderlust/wanderlust I believe that this is due to the combination of two bugs: (1) elmo-folder-close doesn't unselect the IMAP folder; (2) elmo-folder-status-plugged doesn't treat the selected folder specially.
