Package: lists.debian.org A group of users, including Debian developers, rules debian-user-catalan by fear. This is unconditionally supported by at least one member of the Technical Committee.
The most prominent evidence is here: https://lists.debian.org/debian-project/2014/01/msg00051.html The officer couldn't just publish the ban of a dissenting user and has been forced to justify the ban. The arbitrary ban issue is being dealt with in another bug. I send a CC to Steve, being the referred officer. CC for Amaya, she may be able to reason with Steve and may know what's the deal with this community. Steve's reasoning about https://lists.debian.org/debian-user-catalan/2013/12/msg00055.html says that I, the banned one, told Mònica to not read my messages if she didn't like them. It suggests that my reply was to counter complaints against a "sex testing the speakers" joke. The fact is I told her she didn't have to agree with me. I replied to Mònica, Debian developer organizing the MiniDebConf, because she brought a ban threat to a user that disclosed that Martín Ferrari, another Debian developer organizing the MiniDebConf, intimidated him. These developers successfully discouraged the user to defend himself. Those repression manners don't work with me. I publicly disagreed. I even proved the supposed sexism didn't exist in the first place, since nobody could specify it. Steve has noticed that and he had to cover it up. I wasn't banned because of this: https://lists.debian.org/debian-user-spanish/2013/12/msg00539.html I wasn't banned because I made a joke in a message full of puns and jokes sent on the Day of Jokes. The language is Spanish, the target is the Spanish-speaking community. Despite the overwhelming Catalan/Spanish ratio (340/1800), there was not a single complaint from debian-user-spanish. I was banned because of this: https://lists.debian.org/debian-user-catalan/2014/01/msg00012.html I was banned because I exposed the repression method. The message Steve has sent is clear: if you publicly disagree with us, you will be banned from all of our lists forever. On the other hand, although I have requested for the MiniDebConf organizers to invite the Spanish community in a way they deemed fitter, they haven't yet. https://wiki.debian.org/DebianWomen/Projects/MiniDebconf-Women/2014/CallForProposals There is no announcement to debian-user-spanish. There it goes the diversity statement. What's wrong with this community? "Para que no quede duda, la MiniDebConf de Barcelona es real. (Evidentemente, nadie va a comprobar el sexo de nadie.) Todos sois bienvenidos. Os esperamos." Is it that hard? This is a bug report. I have provided enough information. Unless explicitly requested, I won't submit more feedback.
