Package: youtube-dl Version: 2013.12.04-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I appreciate youtube-dl a lot hence thank you for continuing to develop as well as package the new releases.
I have seen this since quite sometime that using --list-subs in other places than youtube.com triggers a download. As an e.g. see this in vimeo. $ youtube-dl -F "http://vimeo.com/73948643" [vimeo] 73948643: Downloading webpage [vimeo] 73948643: Extracting information [vimeo] 73948643: Downloading webpage [info] Available formats for 73948643: format code extension resolution note h264-sd mp4 640x480 (worst) h264-hd mp4 960x720 (best) o.k. it tells me that there are two resolutions for the said video. Now in the manpage of youtube-dl in Subtitle Options, we have this :- --list-subs lists all available subtitles for the video Now I tried using the same to see if any subs. are available or not . $ youtube-dl --list-subs "http://vimeo.com/73948643" [vimeo] 73948643: Downloading webpage [vimeo] 73948643: Extracting information [vimeo] 73948643: Downloading webpage [download] Destination: State Of The Map 2013 - How A Map Can Go Viral (In 8 Simple Steps)-73948643.mp4 [download] 0.6% of 48.41MiB at 12.16KiB/s ETA 01:07:32 As can be seen it tried to download the video instead of telling me if any subs. were available or not. And if not, it should have told that and promptly shut off. I have no idea what triggers the download. I have observed the same thing in both dailymotion and vimeo and maybe couple of others. I don't download many videos hence have no idea if other sites suffer from the same thing or not. Hopefully this can be fixed . -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (600, 'testing'), (500, 'testing-updates'), (1, 'experimental'), (1, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.12-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_IN, LC_CTYPE=en_IN (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages youtube-dl depends on: ii python 2.7.5-5 ii python-pkg-resources 2.0.2-1 Versions of packages youtube-dl recommends: ii libav-tools 6:9.10-1 ii mplayer2 [mplayer] 2.0-701-gd4c5b7f-2 ii rtmpdump 2.4+20121230.gitdf6c518-1 youtube-dl suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- Regards, Shirish Agarwal शिरीष अग्रवाल My quotes in this email licensed under CC 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/ http://flossexperiences.wordpress.com 065C 6D79 A68C E7EA 52B3 8D70 950D 53FB 729A 8B17 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
