Same here. Due to this issue I lost days worth of logs since 29.12. :(
In nginx/error.log.1 there are entries like this:
2014/01/05 04:25:22 [emerg] 1857#0: open() "/var/log/nginx/access.log"
failed (13: Permission denied)
2014/01/05 04:25:22 [emerg] 1856#0: open() "/var/log/nginx/access.log"
failed (13: Permission denied)
2014/01/05 04:25:22 [emerg] 1857#0: open() "/var/log/nginx/error.log"
failed (13: Permission denied)
2014/01/05 04:25:22 [emerg] 1856#0: open() "/var/log/nginx/error.log"
failed (13: Permission denied)
The time is when weekly cron job runs.
This is pretty serious, please consider returning old modes until this
issue is properly fixed.
