Hi,

Just some quick notes:

IMO you better start with the most recent version. It seems to not have the
previous DFSG-related issues (the whole orig-tarball target in debian/rules seems
to be obsolete!).

I took a quick look into the source and there is no need to run dh_autoreconf.
There is no configure.ac or Makefile.am file touched. One bug is about outdated
config.* files, which is usually solved by running the autotools-dev addon as we do
in almost all autotools related packages (gnome-chemistry-utils, etc.pp.). The abinit
5.x source already contains the necessary steps: it depends on autotools-dev and
debian/rules contains the snippets to copy them. It just copies them into the
wrong place. They must be copied into $(CURDIR)/config/gnu/.

Further if abinit 5.x does not have more buildd related issues atm, there is IMHO
no sense in rewriting the build system for this version. Better start with abinit 7 then.

my 2 cents

Regards, Daniel

Betreff: Re: [Debichem-devel] Bug#732520: abinit: New upstream version, package unmaintained
Hi,

short status update: I have injected abinit to

Vcs-Svn: svn://anonscm.debian.org/debichem/unstable/abinit/

and did some generic packaging updates. Unfortunately I was running
into the problem that `autoreconf -f -i` fails. This issue seems to be
a bit tricky and I wonder whether it is worth fixing this one first or
whether it might sense to start with more recent versions of abinit.

Ondřej, working in Vcs is perfectly independent from your NM progress -
in the contrary, you could proof your commitment here.

Kind regards

Andreas.
