Hi, The bug does exist. In order to mitigate, we need to change hint style from medium/full to slight for Cantarell and even all CFF fonts. A fontconfig conf checking font name or font format can help in theory. In practice, however, the setting will be overwritten by gnome setting daemon. We need the famous "Cairo respect fontconfig patch" to resolve the bug until FreeType upstream finds final solution to the issue.
