Package: init-select Version: 1.20140105 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer,
/etc/default/init doesn't follow the common practise to be a sourcable shell code fragment and doesn't seem allow for documenting inline comments. >From neither of the two included man-pages it is clear what exactly to write into /etc/default/init, so some tool (maybe called "select-init" or "init-select") with an interface similar to "update-alternatives --config" which lists all currently available options and let the user easily choose one by only typing a number and enter (or similar). In the long term, maybe using update-alternatives for the init system choice can be an option and may make this package superfluous. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (900, 'testing'), (899, 'testing-proposed-updates'), (600, 'stable'), (500, 'proposed-updates'), (200, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.13-rc6-686-pae (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_DK.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_DK.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages init-select depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.52 ii grub2-common 2.02~beta2-1 init-select recommends no packages.
