Looking back at the original report it occurs to me now (a bit late)
that even if we suppress the beep etc the fact that the PIC is
(apparently) generating 0x73  bytes (fan1 error) is still a bit
annoying/wasteful. I wonder if there is some way to stop it. Or is it
the fact that we have tried to set the fan which is the issue?

Dermon, does commenting out the content of temp_high and temp_low in
qcontrol.conf and rebooting still end up with fan_error getting called
lots?
