Package: gnome-terminal Version: 3.4.1.1-2 Followup-For: Bug #692610 I just installed fresh wheezy system, installed the terminal, and there it is: black text on black background.
Note that users running full gnome desktop probably use some gnome theme which sets GTK theme, and users of long-time non-gnome installtions probably have preferences in place that make the colors sane. Indeed, on this system I have my own gtk theme that makes the terminal look sane with system colors. So the problem is probably that gnome-terminal does not work with the default gtk theme which next to nobody uses. -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.3 APT prefers stable APT policy: (990, 'stable'), (171, 'unstable'), (151, 'experimental'), (121, 'precise-updates'), (121, 'precise-security'), (121, 'precise'), (101, 'stable'), (101, 'oldstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.11-trunk-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages gnome-terminal depends on: ii gconf-service 3.2.5-1+build1 ii gnome-terminal-data 3.4.1.1-2 ii gsettings-desktop-schemas 3.8.2-2 ii libatk1.0-0 2.10.0-2 ii libc6 2.17-97 ii libgconf-2-4 3.2.5-1+build1 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.28.2-1+b1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.38.2-1 ii libgtk-3-0 3.8.6-1 ii libice6 2:1.0.8-2 ii libpango1.0-0 1.36.0-1+b1 ii libsm6 2:1.2.1-2 ii libvte-2.90-9 1:0.32.2-1 ii libx11-6 2:1.5.0-1+deb7u1 Versions of packages gnome-terminal recommends: ii dbus-x11 1.6.8-1+deb7u1 ii gvfs 1.12.3-4 ii yelp 3.4.2-1+b1 gnome-terminal suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
