When printing some PDF's using Evince CUPS fails with
an "unexpected brace token" error.

Printing from other programs produce no such error.
Both 'lpr' and the PDF viewer inside Google Chrome work.
$ lpr plot1.pdf
To generate a PDF that will produce an error in Evince the
following steps were performed. Octave is first to generate
a plot file.
$ cat plot1.m
x = [1 2 3 4];
y = x;
stairs(x, y);
print('plot1.eps', '-deps');
$ octave plot1.m
(generates plot1.eps)
Then it is converted from .eps to .pdf
$ epspdf plot1.eps
(generates plot1.pdf)
Then if it is opened and printed the
"unexpected brace token" error will result.
