Package: patch
Version: 2.7.1-4
Severity: normal

Hi,

patch fails to apply a patch, because the original file and the patch have
different line endings, e.g.:

patching file unace.mk
Hunk #1 FAILED at 27 (different line endings).
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to file unace.mk.rej

This happens, although patch is given the "--ignore-whitespace" parameter and
line endings are nothing more than whitespace at the end of the line. Also
passing the "--binary" options does not work.

Please (convince upstream to) modify patch so that different line endings are
ignored when it is told to ignore whitespace changes!

Thanks,

 - Fabian
