Package: d-itg Version: 2.8.1-r1023-2 Severity: normal [This is basically the same report I sent to upstream.]
Hi, today I got a report about a regression in D-ITG regarding the achievable packet rate and can reproduce it on a high bandwidth line between two machines: With d-itg 2.7.0~beta2-debian1-3, up to 100000pkt/s were possible with my hardware setup. Since 2.8.1~rc1-1, the packet rate seems to be limited to ~15000 pkt/s. Tests are done with the following command between 2 PCs with the Debian amd64 architecture: # ITGSend -a 192.168.11.201 -T udp -c 172 -C 30000 -t 30000 Protocol with 2.7.0~beta2-debian1-3: ---------------------------------------------------------- Flow number: 1 >From 192.168.11.200:59111 To 192.168.11.201:8999 ---------------------------------------------------------- Total time = 30.007303 s Total packets = 882303 Minimum delay = -147.918486 s Maximum delay = -147.908957 s Average delay = -147.917746 s Average jitter = 0.000063 s Delay standard deviation = 0.000331 s Bytes received = 151756116 Average bitrate = 40458.448665 Kbit/s Average packet rate = 29402.942344 pkt/s Packets dropped = 0 (0.00 %) Average loss-burst size = 0.000000 pkt ---------------------------------------------------------- __________________________________________________________ **************** TOTAL RESULTS ****************** __________________________________________________________ Number of flows = 1 Total time = 30.007303 s Total packets = 882303 Minimum delay = -147.918486 s Maximum delay = -147.908957 s Average delay = -147.917746 s Average jitter = 0.000063 s Delay standard deviation = 0.000331 s Bytes received = 151756116 Average bitrate = 40458.448665 Kbit/s Average packet rate = 29402.942344 pkt/s Packets dropped = 0 (0.00 %) Average loss-burst size = 0 pkt Error lines = 0 ---------------------------------------------------------- Protocol with 2.8.1-r1023-2: ITGDec version 2.8.1 (r1023) Compile-time options: sctp dccp bursty multiport ---------------------------------------------------------- Flow number: 1 >From 192.168.11.200:59499 To 192.168.11.201:8999 ---------------------------------------------------------- Total time = 30.005302 s Total packets = 343422 Minimum delay = -147.917677 s Maximum delay = -147.908842 s Average delay = -147.916092 s Average jitter = 0.000166 s Delay standard deviation = 0.000858 s Bytes received = 59068584 Average bitrate = 15748.839055 Kbit/s Average packet rate = 11445.377220 pkt/s Packets dropped = 0 (0.00 %) Average loss-burst size = 0.000000 pkt ---------------------------------------------------------- __________________________________________________________ **************** TOTAL RESULTS ****************** __________________________________________________________ Number of flows = 1 Total time = 30.005302 s Total packets = 343422 Minimum delay = -147.917677 s Maximum delay = -147.908842 s Average delay = -147.916092 s Average jitter = 0.000166 s Delay standard deviation = 0.000858 s Bytes received = 59068584 Average bitrate = 15748.839055 Kbit/s Average packet rate = 11445.377220 pkt/s Packets dropped = 0 (0.00 %) Average loss-burst size = 0 pkt Error lines = 0 ---------------------------------------------------------- I guess something changed in the internal scheduler in D-ITG?
