Package: util-linux Version: 2.20.1-5.3 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
I have a VM inside VMWare (not mine), where executing blockdev --setrw does not work: # blockdev -v --setrw /dev/mapper/vol0-root set read-write succeeded. # mount -oremount,rw /dev/mapper/vol0-root mount: cannot remount block device /dev/mapper/vol0-root read-write, is write-protected It would be great if blockdev could report that the operation failed, instead of claiming that it succeeded, unless it would be possible to make it actually succeed.
