A change was made to the SQL query in the last upload so if you just encountered this error I guess it would be the cause. On the other hand, the change was just about marking strings as escape strings and shouldn't affect the encoding. If you just installed libdspam7-drv-pgsql, could you try installing previous dspam version from snapshot.debian.org and see if you still have this error? > > I take the offending string and put it into python and try to decode it > and get a similiar message.
