Package: aptitude Version: 0.4.0-2 Severity: normal After managing my system with apt-get for ages, including upgrading from oldstable to unstable, I finally installed aptitutde and got this error when I first tried to install something:
E: failed to rename /var/lib/aptitude/pkgstates to /var/lib/aptitude/pkgstates.old - save_selection_list (2 No such file or directory) Easy to work around - just touch /var/lib/aptitude/pkgstates - but the package install should create this file if it doesn't exist. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.14-1-686 Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages aptitude depends on: ii apt [libapt-pkg-libc6.3-6-3.1 0.6.42.1 Advanced front-end for dpkg ii libc6 2.3.5-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:4.0.2-3 GCC support library ii libncursesw5 5.5-1 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libsigc++-2.0-0c2 2.0.16-1 type-safe Signal Framework for C++ ii libstdc++6 4.0.2-3 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 Versions of packages aptitude recommends: pn aptitude-doc-en | aptitude-do <none> (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
