adduser --system automatically puts the new system users' home directory under /home and creates it. This makes a package insta-buggy, and piuparts has a check for that filing rc bugs against packages that do so. The adduser maintainer does not feel comfortable with changing adduser's default behavior to avoid those bugs (#679746). He ha sound arguments supporting his case. Please consider adding a lintian check that prints a warning if adduser is called from a packages' maintainer script without setting --home to a directory outside of /home. Please note that maintainer script lines invoking adduser are frequently split among multiple lines using backslash notation.
