Not sure if that helps, but there is now tcplay, a new truecrypt implementation [1]. It is licensed under a 2-clause BSD license. It is supposed to be fully compatible with truecrypt, and so far I heard [2] that it is pretty stable. See the archlinux wiki page [3] for the manual. Maybe you could consider packaging this one instead?
