It tries to build jadetex with the tex engine, but the latex format (which is loaded by jadetex) was generated with pdfetex - this is the default since 3.0. You must have old configuration files and refused the updates; but in fact they must be very old, because even in sarge jadetex fails with tex (it must use etex). What's the output of the following commands, please: ls -l /etc/texmf/fmt.d/ grep jadetex /etc/texmf/fmt.d/* grep jadetex /var/lib/texmf/web2c/fmtutil.cnf Regards, Frank -- Frank Küster Inst. f.
