Package: anon-proxy

I have been having a problem for the last few days on my machine.
Sources I can reach normally using, eg, a web browser, appeared to
be inaccessible to aptitude, apt-get, and apt.

Also, reportbug just aborted when "checking for newer versions at
madison", for the same reason.

I figured it out eventually. The issue is that the http_proxy
environment variable was set when I opted to do private browsing
via anon-proxy, and the proxy at 127.0.0.1:4001 triggers a bug in the
attempted URL rewriting done by these programs such that they cannot
present a meaningful URL to the proxy to be rewritten.

Switching to FTP protocol turned out to be a decent workaround as FTP
is not proxied; however security.debian.org does not appear to be
accessible via ftp.

So, to fix this problem: please have these programs present complete
URLs that can be handled properly by anon-proxy, or fix the anon-proxy
package to be compatible with the widely shared bug.

Also, ftp access to security.debian.org is a resolution devoutly
to be wished. While not technically a bug, I want to register it
as a wishlist item in that that particular source should be as
accessible as possible by as many means as possible IMO.
