Package: libchicken-dev
Version: 4.7.0-1
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

This is my first ever Debian bugreport, so please excuse any faux-pas.

When installing libchicken-dev, I noticed apt-get wants to install
libpcre3-dev. This seems to me to be an obsolete dependency which was
never removed on the upgrade to CHICKEN 4.7.0, because starting with
that release PCRE is no longer being used by CHICKEN. Instead, we
ship a pure Scheme implementation of regular expressions called
"irregex". Therefore, I think the libpcre3-dev dependency should be
removed from libchicken-dev.

If you'd like to know more, just send me an e-mail, or ask on the
chicken-users mailinglist.
