It has been a pleasure to work with such a detailed bug report! I managed to reproduce the issue by upgrading from 1.76.1-2 or below to 1.76.1-3 or 1.77-1. Dpkg then silently refuses to replace an existing directory with a symbolic link. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
