This is an idea for an /etc/mailcap entry to run pcf2bdf to display a
pcf font file when on a text tty. The debian/mime file below is
installed by debhelper to /usr/lib/mime/packages/pcf2bdf.

The mime type application/x-font-pcf is the same as gnome-font-viewer
has in its /usr/share/applications/gnome-font-viewer.desktop. My bug
727171 asks for /etc/mime.types to give that for .pcf. The mime type
can be given explicitly to "see" until then,

  see application/x-font-pcf:/usr/share/fonts/X11/100dpi/charB08.pcf.gz
  =>
  STARTFONT 2.1
  FONT -Bitstream-Charter-Bold-R-Normal--11-80-100-100-P-69-ISO8859-1
  ...

# No %s so get data on stdin.
# Data conversion is one-pass so doesn't require seekable input.
# Low priority so as to prefer a GUI font displayer like gnome-font-viewer.
application/x-font-pcf; /usr/bin/pcf2bdf; copiousoutput; description=X11
Portable Compiled Format font; priority=2
