dbus has some optional circular dependencies, which are enabled for the current Debian build. When the dpkg maintainers have picked a syntax for staged builds, someone should update this commit to the chosen syntax: http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-utopia/dbus.git;a=commitdiff;h=34f285f396fa91215e202ce90844b5099f6f5b6b It might also need updating for more build-dependencies, like systemd-journald and libaudit; debian/rules might also need changes to make more build options conditional. dbus is probably quite a good test-case for how this stuff affects a fairly typical Autotools package.
