I think a script like this will be very useful as an init service, so
that it hibernates all the VMs, when the Host is shutting down.

Each vbox guest is a user process, and ideally it should just transition
into a DI freeze state during suspend/hibernate and recover on resume.

I have been suspending my host laptop, with a running Windows 7 Guest,
for months without any issue.

Is this "unresponsive problem" commonly seen whey trying to hibernate ?
