So it seems you actually used my first patch, not the second one (which was better)? No harm done, but I want to point out again that you *can* wrap test dependencies. In fact, with autopkgtest 2.4.0 you can now even keep the trailing comma, so the only real issue was the -pandas → -patsy dependency. Thanks anyway!
