With "auto-assembly support" you have a much better
description then my "using udev rules".

Basicly, I think it is about moving the assembly functionality from the 
startup scripts to event driven rules, and leaving only some
watchdog functionality in the initramfs and regular startup 
scripts that degrades the arrays if they are not getting assembled.
