Package: gnome-terminal Version: 3.8.4-1 Severity: important (I don't know if this bug lies with gnome-terminal or with something it depends on.)
After upgrading to GNOME 3.8 in latest unstable, gnome-terminal no longer displays Unicode characters, including line-drawing characters; they show up as unknown-character symbols, question marks, or similar. For example, tools like mutt, tree, or wget produce piles of unknown-character symbols, one per UTF-8 byte. wget, for instance, prints Unicode single-quotes around the filename it prints, which consist of the UTF-8 bytes e2 80 98 and e2 80 99. Those show up as three unknown-character symbols. I'm running gnome-terminal in the C.UTF-8 locale, and I haven't changed that. - Josh Triplett -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.10-3-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=C.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages gnome-terminal depends on: ii dconf-gsettings-backend [gsettings-backend] 0.16.1-1 ii gconf-service 3.2.6-1 ii gnome-terminal-data 3.8.4-1 ii gsettings-desktop-schemas 3.8.2-2 ii libatk1.0-0 2.10.0-2 ii libc6 2.17-93 ii libdconf1 0.16.1-1 ii libgconf-2-4 3.2.6-1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.36.4-1 ii libgtk-3-0 3.8.4-1 ii libpango-1.0-0 1.32.5-5+b1 ii libuuid1 2.20.1-5.5 ii libvte-2.90-9 1:0.34.8-1 ii libx11-6 2:1.6.2-1 Versions of packages gnome-terminal recommends: ii dbus-x11 1.6.16-1 ii gvfs 1.16.3-1+b1 ii yelp 3.8.1-2 gnome-terminal suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
