Hi Giacomo,

thanks a lot for your report. I will forward it to the maintainers, but
can you try first this new uswsusp version?

This version only change the variable name in the uswsusp scripts from RES_DEV
to RESUME and adds the offset argument to the resume file. This change could
help in other bug and Ben (initramfs-tools maintainer) suggest me the change.

I tried it, and unfortunately it does not work (for me). Instead, I had
installed the scripts in the tar file you had attached to message #54 in the
same bug in the bug tracking system. With that (together with my "atomic bomb"
solution I had mentioned in my email), my system can resume correctly from
hibernation. After some more thinking about it, I do believe that the
problem I found should indeed be fixed in the lvm2 package.

There is one problem that should be fixed in uswsusp, though: is it ok that
resume, if it is called with an argument pointing to an unaccessible
partition (e.g. because it was not activated by lvm) just hangs forever?

My humble opinion (maybe worth a wishlist bug level?) is that it should fail
more gracefully, either just exiting with an error message, or at least
offering to. But this is not the bug being tracked here, more like an
independent minor flaw which was exposed by this bug.

Ciao
Giacomo
