This problem with vmdebootstrap still exist, as can be seen on <URL: http://packages.qa.debian.org/v/vmdebootstrap.html >, and block the package from entering testing.
As far as I know, the only way to fix it is to ask the ftpmasters to remove the binary debs from the archive for architectures no longer supported by vmdebootstrap.
