Do you have multiple kernels maybe and you are not using the the latest kernel? What's the content of /etc/initramfs-tools/update-initramfs.conf ? Does "update-initramfs -u" update the initramfs for the kernel you are running? -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
