The fix is now accepted and added on upstream git:

I think it is very important to add it on qemu debian package.
Latest xen unstable debian package seems already using it but without
this fix hvm domUs can't start at all:
xen (4.3.0-1) unstable; urgency=low
...
* Make xen-utils recommend qemu-system-x86. (closes: #688311)
