Package: file Version: 1:5.14-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
The version of File in Unstable/Sid (currently 5.14) seems to report less info than, say, the 5.11 version in 7.1/Wheezy. For example, the attached file generates the following output on a Wheezy installation: escapevel.ti5p: Zip data (MIME type "application/vnd.nz.gen.geek_central.ti5x"?) whereas on Sid I just get: escapevel.ti5p: data The file is a Zip archive, following the ODF convention of beginning with an initial uncompressed "mimetype" entry. The older File correctly sniffs this out, the newer one just seems to give up recognizing it as a Zip archive altogether. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (101, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.10-2-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_NZ.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_NZ.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_NZ.utf8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages file depends on: ii libc6 2.17-92 ii libmagic1 1:5.14-2 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.8.dfsg-1 file recommends no packages. file suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
