It seems that you're not actually using the awesome session but the default xsession (which, afair, means x-session-manager in the end, which might be startxfce4 in your case). If you correctly set the session when logging in, that means something is broken, maybe between lightdm-gtk-greeter and lightdm. Regards, -- Yves-Alexis
