I was going to submit a patch, but with my finger perched over the
proverbial Send button it occurred to me that there might be something
tricky going on that I didn't understand — something odd relying on
using the same identifiers as ifup and deliberately overwriting ifup's
resolvconf record. So I decided to ask about that first. Especially in
light of your answer, I think that the aforementioned oddities are
just a result of the user copying the hook script from ifup and not
changing identifiers. So I will submit the patch.  :)
