Bug#329127: cvs segfaults on AMD64 but not on x86

We've noticed that this segfault happens for us when we have a local 
file that is marked as modified, but where is no actual diff.

Just doing:
  touch somefile.controlled.by.cvs
  cvs update -dP

is enough to cause the segfault.  I have not tried building with the 
above patch to see if that fixes the problem.
