Package: clipit
Version: 1.4.1-1.1
Severity: normal

Hi.

After I installed clipit, I was very satisfied with the unification of
PRIMARY and the clipboard.

Unfortunately, I saw that the fan of my CPU didn't stop and I tried to
observe the results with powertop: to my surprise, clipit was the highest
item (beating any other user and kernel process) in the list of wake ups.

In fact, clipit was causing wake ups on my system to be more than 220 per
second, while killing it brought down the count to 80 per second (both
measures with my notebook doing nothing else).

BTW, something strange that I noticed:

* The version of clipit in sid seems to ignore the -d option to become a
daemon. I get the following as output:

  (clipit:7905): GLib-WARNING **:
/build/glib2.0-Ot8bbC/glib2.0-2.36.4/./glib/goption.c:2199: ignoring no-arg,
optional-arg or filename flags (8) on option of arg-type 0 in entry

optional-arg or filename flags (8) on option of arg-type 0 in entry
(null):no-icon

optional-arg or filename flags (8) on option of arg-type 0 in entry
(null):clipboard

optional-arg or filename flags (8) on option of arg-type 0 in entry
(null):primary

* The behavior of clipit, when using/not using the -d option seems quite
different:

With -d, clipit wakes up about 50 times per second.
Without -d, clipit wakes up about 30 times per second.

It would be nice to have such things ironed out, as clipit works the way
that I always wished that things would in X.

Thanks.
