Perhaps what happens is this: - brltty 4.4 installed and running, but keeps failing to find a braille device since you don't have one, but that does not fill logs very much. - the brltty package gets upgraded, but we don't restart brltty on upgrade. - brltty 4.4 is thus still running, but the braille drivers have been upgraded, and thus can't be loaded -> fills log I guess a not-too-bad fix for this is to make this kind of loop much less noisy, as less as the failing-to-find-braille-device loop?
