To follow up; I found an archived message that referenced PTY permissions in LXC and applied a similar fix: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libvir-list/2011-February/msg00975.html
After rebuilding the package and installing it, I verified that the issue is corrected. I'm attaching the patch. -- James
