* What led up to the situation?
Boot system, click on Iceweasel, within a few seconds it will freeze
the entire system. It is not 100% freeze, sometimes it will run awhile, but
generally if I invoke Iceweasel by itself, it will freeze the system.
Clock on top of screen stops updating, best indicator it's hosed. But
not responsive to mouse clicks or keyboard entry. There is one other strange
thing that happens and I don't know if they are related, in that when typing
information into a web site, the font changes and I get a character,
followed by a space. This usually continues and I have to close Iceweasel to
continue. Don't know if there is a relation to the system freeze, but will add
this
to the bug list. I have also tried to find the 'expeirmental' version
to see if it's still a problem, but, even with the proper entry (I believe) in
sources.list, I don't seem to be able to find the expeirmental version with
'aptitude'
for installation.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
Found that I can only regain control by a power off, sit for a few
minutes then cause the BIOS to allow me to select boot device. If I just power
back on, I get a message on top of screen
that something happened and will return to where it was frozen.
* What was the outcome of this action?
Proper re boot restores the computer.
* What outcome did you expect instead?
Did not expect to have to wait after a power down.
