Well, it's documented on the --help output and on the man page, I
don't think this really qualifies as torture…

You already reported this some time ago in #380018, but to be fair I
do think these error messages deserve to be fixed, so that's what I've
done now, and IMO the bug was inapropriately closed back then. The fix
will be included in 1.17.2.

I'm reviewing all other badusage() invocations to check for similar
unclear messages.
