Yeah, i guess the README is somewhat outdated, and anything can be no worse than initrd-tools anyway, but just to make things clear : initrd-tools *DOES NOT* work for kernels >=2.6.13, due to the lacking devfs. So, if you have another tool to propose, you are free to propose it, or would you have wanted us to wait with 2.6.12 kernels and release etch with that because we didn't test and improve it to fit our users. I mean nobody promised you unstable will not break your system occasionally, and it is only fitting that debian developers like yourself are the first to test these issues and help us fix them for the testing users. Also, please read the two wiki pages about these issues, as well as the month or two debian-kernel archive before you complain too much about these issues.
