For me it's a matter of opinion if the behavior you describend is wrong or not. I'm personally can live with that. I'm reading a mail completely if it is interesting for me, if not I just flying over the mail and select the next mail. Because this is not a Debian specific issue we will not spend any time on that. So if you feel unlucky with that behavior please open a (new?) entry in the Mozilla Bugzilla [1] and provide the URI to that here.
