Unfortunately the service file isn't in sync with the traditional init script anymore. vnstatd is now run as user vnstat and the command arguments have changed. The service file also needs to make sure that /run/vnstat is created before running vnstatd and that it is owned by vnstat:vnstat. I'll apply the patch once this has been fixed and someone has successfully tested the systemd service file.
