thanks for bringing this to my attention.  i think i saw evidence that
upstream is arranging a fix for it as i saw some diffs from svn a
week ago or so where many of the queries were re-written with ()'s.

anyway, i've subscribed to the bug in question, so when they release
a patch or a new version of cacti to fix the bug, i'll upload it.
in the meantime, i'll consider uploading a version that explicitly
conflicts with mysql 5.0 after i investigate how well the "workaround"
suggested by TheWitness works.
