Package: mailman
Version: 2.1.5-8
Severity: normal

subscribing to a mailing list setup for mailmain does not work. Mailman reports:

"Your subscription request has been received, and will soon be acted upon.
Depending on the configuration of this mailing list, your subscription request
may have to be first confirmed by you via email, or approved by the list
moderator. If confirmation is required, you will soon get a confirmation email
which contains further instructions.". However, no email is ever received.

After checking permissions, settings, manpages, documentation, etc, I can't
find out what the problem is. There should be a tool that administers mailmain
with minimum effort from the operator. Else, the mailing list tool is useless.

Ironically, mailman worked just fine in Debian woody.
