I can confirm exactly the same problem and would be happy if I could
help the maintainer locating the problem. It is quite annoying
not have a reliable anacron service.

* The problem only exists on my amd64 box. I have several other i386
machines with similar installations which are not affected.

* The problem only exists since around June 9, 2013. Maybe it is
related to some software/security update published around that time?

Please let me know if I can help out with further information or tests.
